Topic: One-time postponement to the fall - EISENWARENMESSE moved to September 2022

Statements from the industry

John Herbert

John Herbert

General Secretary of the European DIY Retail Association/Global Home Improvement Network (EDRA/GHIN)

“Trade fairs are the lifeline of our international business activities and play an immense role in helping the pandemic-battered global economy get back on its feet. The EISENWARENMESSE – INTERNATIONAL HARDWARE FAIR is one of the events that we always recommend our members attend. The fact that we will have to wait to see each other in Cologne again in no way diminishes the anticipation.”

Wolfgang J. Kirchhoff

Chairman of the Advisory Board and Managing Director of Witte Tools

“The industry needs a strong EISENWARENMESSE – INTERNATIONAL HARDWARE FAIR to build long-term success. If the conditions for this are better in September than in March, then postponing the date is the only logical and correct decision for the industry and the trade fair.”

Statement of BHB

Dr. Peter Wüst , CEO
BHB (Handelsverband Heimwerken, Bauen und Garten e.V.)

The decision has been made: The International Hardware Fair will be postponed once again and will now have a new venue at the end of September 2022. As one of the conceptual sponsors of this most important industry trade platform, the BHB expressly welcomes this clear and responsible decision by the organiser KoelnMesse at this time.

"Of course, we would have been pleased to be able to meet with industry representatives from all over the world again at our traditional venue. We as an industry association, traditionally the communication and contact point at the fair for the DIY trade companies as well as important supporting members from industry and services, also need this platform for exchange and, with the BHB Forum and the presentation of the BHB Industry Award, are ourselves a fundamental part of the IEW.

However, we very much agree with the organisers' decision to postpone the fair to a much later, hopefully then safer period of the year in view of the highly volatile pandemic situation. Even though the organisers' extensive security concepts would have made it seem feasible to hold the event, exhibitors and visitors feel much more comfortable with this solution. Let us therefore hope to be able to successfully implement our joint plans for the new trade fair date of 25 to 28 September 2022."

Norbert Lindemann

Managing Director of Herstellerverband Haus & Garten e.V.

"First things first: we can continue to look forward to an INTERNATIONAL HARDWARE FAIR in 2022 and thus to an important instrument to prepare for the future in these turbulent times together as an industry. The postponement will enable all exhibiting companies to devote their full attention to the preparations for the fair after what is expected to be a hard winter."

Stefan Horst

Stefan Horst

Managing Director of the German association of tool manufacturers (FWI)

"The German tool industry is strongly export-oriented. We therefore need an internationally widely attended INTERNATIONAL HARDWARE FAIR and we are confident that we will achieve this goal with the postponement.”

Statement of ZHH

Thomas Dammann, CEO
ZHH (Zentralverband Hartwaren e.V.)

Thomas Dammann

"The hardware trade expressly welcomes the decision to move the International Hardware Fair to September in order to be able to experience an attractive and comprehensive industry show. After the Corona-related cancellation in 2020, the trade finally needs a comprehensive international market overview again, at which the renowned European brands are also present. Because there is a great need for a personal exchange with the market participants, which the specialist trade does not want to do without despite increasing digital networking."
