Trends @ INTERNATIONAL HARDWARE FAIR 2020

At the INTERNATIONAL HARDWARE FAIR from 1 to 4 March 2020, hardware manufacturers will once again ignite a firework of innovation. In the run-up to the fair, we have already asked exhibitors about trends and new products and give you a first taste of exciting novelties and future-oriented solutions from the fields of tools, industrial supplies, fastening and joining technology and home improvement.

Standardisation for the benefit of the customer

For the hardware industry, too, Industry 4.0 is an important topic. More and more companies are cooperating intensively in order to jointly advance the networking of the entire value chain. The Cordless Alliance System, or CAS for short, is also all about networking in a more figurative sense. 13 suppliers of power tools now use the same battery system and the same interface based on Metabo technology. The benefits are plenty: More than 140 different power tools can be operated with the same batteries, and a single charger is sufficient to ensure that they are always ready for use - regardless of the mains supply.

Innovations in many industries

More and more customers expect individual solutions, preferably 24/7. This demand is met by a new product configurator for industrial pullers, which allows you to quickly and easily put together a customised product.

Fast, automated solutions are also in demand in measurement technology: New devices now transmit measured values directly to the computer. Thanks to modern software solutions that directly acquire and visualize data from up to two devices and enable simple calculations as well as the tracing of measurement errors, users no longer need programming knowledge.

High-tech solutions such as these facilitate work processes - and contribute to better performance and a longer service life, for example in grinding technology. Here, higher density and an improved balance between grain quality and bond hardness ensure that ever thinner wheels have more and more abrasive grain, thus increasing the performance of extra-thin cut-off wheels. The higher compression also plays a decisive role in flap discs, as the flaps can be fixed more effectively. The result: higher performance and longer life.

The intelligent home

Automation and digitalisation have long since found their place in the private living environment. Doors and windows can more and more often be opened without touching. The necessary technology is integrated in smart home applications. Among other things, the INTERNATIONAL HARDWARE FAIR will present an opening variant in which a front door can be unlocked without active participation - similar to the "Keyless Go" systems in vehicles.

You will find this and other exciting news from manufacturers at the INTERNATIONAL HARDWARE FAIR from 1-4 March 2020 in Cologne. Experience the innovations live!
