Product Data Architecture and Classification as the Foundation for AI in Commerce

description:
AI in commerce is often associated with automation, efficiency, and intelligent processes. In practice, however, it quickly becomes clear that the real bottleneck is not the systems themselves, but the product data. When supplier data arrives as Excel files, CSV exports, or XML feeds with different structures, labels, and missing fields, manual correction loops begin long before a new product range can go live.
As long as no clearly defined target standard exists, even modern systems will simply process inconsistent data. The result is delayed product launches, error-prone product feeds, and AI applications that cannot reach their full potential.
This presentation explains why data quality, proper classification, and clearly defined attribute systems are the true foundation for scalability in commerce. The key question is not which tool is used, but whether product data follows a consistent standard across all systems.
Using practical examples, the session will show which structural principles are necessary to manage large assortments effectively – and how companies can create the right conditions for AI to be used in a stable, transparent, and impactful way.
